HOF sets benefit golf tourney date

Updated: Jan 28, 2019

The Glynn County Sports Hall of Fame has set the date for its second golf tournament to benefit the Hall of Fame.

The tournament has been scheduled for Sunday, March 10. The tournament will feature a shotgun start that is currently slated for 1:30 p.m.

The event will once again be held at the Sea Island Golf Club’s Retreat Course which was designed by Glynn Count Sports Hall of Fame member Davis Love III, the longtime Sea Island touring professional.

The Hall held its first tournament in March 2017 to raise money for its overall mission which is to preserve and celebrate the county’s rich athletic past by honoring those who have achieved success in sports while representing the Golden Isles community along the way.

The plan for the golf tournament is to hold it in years when the Hall of Fame is not having an induction banquet. The sixth induction banquet was held in March 2018 with five new members going into the local sports hall of fame. The first golf tournament was held in March 2017.

More details regarding this year’s golf tournament will be released soon.

The hall of fame hopes to have a full field of teams play in the event. Hole sponsors are also needed.

A lot of great prizes will be given away to the winning teams, and there also will be attractive prizes for individual winners who win long drive, closest-to-pin and such.

Food will be served following play for all participants prior to the awards ceremony. The meal is included in the entry fee.
